Bono was appointed to the Louisiana Real Estate
Commission in 2006 by Governor Kathleen Babineaux
Blanco.
Commissioner Bono
is a life long resident of Lake Charles, Louisiana,
is married and has two sons. He attended McNeese
State University and the University of Houston. He
received his real estate broker license in 1970, and
since that time he established the following
businesses: Suburban Real Estate Inc., Suburban
Land and Development, Toledo Land and Development,
Moss Bluff Development, Pendel Corporation,
Investors 76 & 77, Mike D. Bono & Co.’s, and Mike D.
Bono Enterprises, Inc.
He has served in the following capacities: Chairman
of the Ethics Committee for the Greater Calcasieu
Board of Realtors, real estate instructor, real
estate consultant for numerous clients including
banks and other businesses, appraiser for multiple
third party lenders and the Veterans Administration
for the United States Department of the Federal
Housing Administration, and he has been qualified as
a real estate expert witness in five courts in the
following three states: Louisiana, Texas, and
Arkansas. Professional memberships include the
National Association of Realtors, Louisiana Realtors
Association, and the Southwest Louisiana Association
of Realtors.
Commissioner Bono
purchased the first Century 21 franchise in
Louisiana. He formed Century 21 Mike D. Bono &
Co.’s, a local real estate firm, in 1976, under
“ONOB Corporation,” which is solely owned and
operated by the Bono Family.
At present, he is an active developer and real
estate broker representing the “ONOB” corporation.
